Elliot Lake Dog Training

Qualified and Certified trainers you can trust!

We are a family owned small business of dog trainers who work with pet owners and their dogs to unlock pawsibilities!

Our mission? Developing dogs with skills, empowering humans with knowledge!

The Right Kind Of Training

As professional dog trainers in Elliot Lake, with rescue dogs of our own, we are passionate about providing personalised training plans and experiences that work for you and your pup. We offer various affordable rates, including training plans that provide full transparency on your goals and cost from start to finish. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all or cookie-cutter solutions because every dog, dog parent and situation is different.

We have been working for years with individual pet parents, helping them to train and understand their dog companions. We are also members of the Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers (CAPDT), the only regulating association in Canada for dog trainers. Which means we adhere to ethical practices developed in partnership by various global bodies, including the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).

Constantly keeping up to date on the latest humane practices and methods, we follow the Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive (LIMA) approach, using practical and proven humane ways of training, avoiding outdated practices including physical dominance or any negative reinforcement/punishment. Additionally, we continue advancing our knowledge on best practices, new studies and changes in the industry to ensure we provide the best service to our clients.

We work with dogs through all stages of life, from puppies to adults. We have also worked with pets of different abilities. Our services are offered in English, French and Spanish.

Meet Your Trainers

Aaron – Trainer/Owner

Aaron has over 10 years of experience training dogs and their humans. He is a registered dog trainer with the Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers (CAPDT), the only recognized regulated organization for professional dog trainers in Canada. This means he follows the Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive (LIMA) approach, the best humane practice for all professional dog trainers. He specializes in aggression, anxiety, obedience, reactivity, building confidence, and much more!

Aaron’s natural ability to understand animals in a deeper and meaningful way along with his many years of experience working with pet owners and their pets, allows him to know and understand the dogs he trains (in ways others can’t) to harness their inner potential for success. He leads with compassion, empathy and provides a safe learning environment for all at Pawsitive Steps Training.

Additionally, he has worked with shelters across Ontario, training shelter staff, new pet owners and their rescued pets. In his efforts he has created rehoming programs, rescue integration best practices and rescue interventions.

Lola (Chief Dog Officer – CDO)

Lola is our canine trainer and socialization expert, helping our clients with their behavioural interactions in a safe controlled environment. She also helps to ensure that dogs will be a great fit for daycare. As our CDO, she runs a tight ship at Pawsitive Steps leading with compassion and play!

Now 2 years old, she is always learning, growing and advancing in her skills. Since she began training at 8 weeks old, she has become a great “base dog” for our organization.

She loves working with mom and dad and especially loves all the treats and attention she gets from her training experiences. She does also get paid in bones, toys and the odd pup cup!
